Give Me Five - Easter 2008 Memories

My oldest is in the first grade, and her school district's spring break goes Thursday through Monday, instead of getting a whole school week off. I really don't like the way they do this, because it seriously shortens their vacation. But, in spite of this we were still able to get out of town and visit family. We just didn't get to stay as long as we would have liked. We went to my in-law's house for the Holiday, and had a great time. Here are five of my favorite memories...

1. Happy Easter Jesus. My oldest was the first to wake up, and I wouldn't let her see what the bunny had left for her until all three of her sisters were awake. While we were waiting for them, she and I started talking about the true meaning of Easter, and she prayed to Jesus thanking him for all he has done. At the end she said,"And Jesus, I hope you have a very nice Easter. Amen." I just thought that was sweet, and it really put a smile on my face.

2. Candy Crazy. All my two year old cared about ALL day was candy. We constantly found her hiding behind furniture eating candy that she had somehow managed to either hide from us, or steal from one of the older kids' baskets. I don't know how much she ate, but it was WAY more than she should have!

3. Thoughtfulness. We had BBQ'd hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch, and my Mother-in-law made baked beans, green beans, and potato salad for the sides. I guess some time in our relationship I had mentioned that I am picky about potato salad, and so she asked me what I put in mine. Then, she made hers exactly the same way, in spite of the fact that it was different than what she was used to. I thought that was very kind of her, and it tasted fantastic! Everything did.

4. A little time alone. We don't live close to any of our extended family (the closest is about seven hours away) so it's always nice when we get to visit with them and can get caught up on everything. It's also nice because they take the kids off of our hands a little bit, and leave us free to relax for a change. I spent a lot of time reworking the look of my blog this weekend. Which is something I wouldn't have been able to do with out the extra help.

5. Dinner out with my hubby. Because we have four kids we really can't afford a babysitter, so pretty much the only time we get to go out is while we are visiting family. Easter night my hubby and I went out to dinner, and it was really nice to get a chance to reconnect a little without the kids around. Plus, we went to a movie on Saturday night... two date nights in a row was really a treat. Thanks Nana and Papa!

Sounds so nice! Especially the date nights with your husband (I have 4 kids too, so I know what you mean!). Happy (belated) Easter!

Well, I don't know what the old look of your blog was, but it sure looks good now! I love the bright red strawberries!!!

I love that your MIL thought about you when she made the potato salad, that was really nice. I am picky about that stuff too. Sorry you live so far from your family and rarely get to go on dates with your hubby!

Great GM5 post, I do hope you will come back each week and become a regular! I like your blog alot. Your daughter's little prayer to Jesus put a smile on my face as well. Thanks!

(Ps. the link should say 'BeccA's Buzz' instead of Becca's Place. Sorry to be picky but that's the name of my blog LOL Thanks again!)
